This year for the first time, I have followed Assembly via the web. I want to take this opportunity to thank you and your team for such an excellent service. The reports have been clear, concise and informative, and whilst I would have welcomed the opportunity to attend Assembly personally, Hotline was a very acceptable alternative.

Thank you for keeping us all so well informed.

I have been watching the Assembly through the internet. I have noticed when I have been at assemblies before there seems to be certain parts from the business when several people go missing for example shopping etc.. On one of the photo's there are huge spaces which really is a waste of funds.

How many people can say hand on heart that they have sat through all of Assembly?  People are aware that often resolutions are moved around as time sometimes permits this or other reasons for time changes.

Yes Assembly is also about meeting up with colleagues, but if you are representing your Synod, Church or District I strongly feel you should commit to it 100% if you cannot give this. Take time and think of other people who would rather be at assembly for the business and to represent their Churches views.

I read Revd Elizabeth Caswell’s address with great interest, enjoying her use of the imagery of the stream.

I recall a piece that I heard on Radio 4 a couple of months ago about a certain river in Vietnam which, each year, changes its direction of flow.  Yes, that’s right, each year this particular river changes its direction, seemingly reversing its flow from ‘downhill’ towards its ‘inevitable finality’, to back uphill in the direction of its source and ‘inspiration’. At the moment in the season when this happens those on the river find themselves paddling through turbulence, and even without direction, but within a short while order is restored and a new season brings those on the banks of the river renewed resources and a period of fertile stability.

General Assembly, keep paddling!

First congratulations on the speed the summaries are appearing.

One point on the Saturday am summary for Youth & Children's Work - most members of Assembly are representatives not delegates so you may wish to change the sentence "One delegate said that areas of youth work that were growing usually included paid youth workers."

Have been checking out the hotline and it all looks rather exciting!

The pics are really good too!

Good job so far. The website and other forms of communication with local churches become even more important at a time when the church is talking about reducing the number of members attending General Assembly.

The best thing is that the first thing at the top is the new thing.
